Belly button reshaping, also known as debeso treatment, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that modifies the unwanted size and shape of your belly button to the desired one. The procedure is also known as belly button rejuvenation.
Debeso treatment has become a trend and the popularity still continues to grow. The treatment, in fact, is popular for both women and men who are not happy with their belly button overall appearance such as shape, size, as well as the position.

The belly button, or umbilicus, is the scar remained by the umbilical cord that was removed during birth. What to expect?
The treatment is mostly performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia applied. Unless hernia has to be repaired as part of the procedure, normally the overall treatment takes less than an hour to complete.
There are a variety of techniques available to perform the treatment, which depends on the surgeons’ preferences as well as the type of change required.
The typical procedure is to change an “outie” into an “innie”. Surgeons usually use internal sutures on the underside of the belly button to shape the desired contours. If the overall reduction of belly button is requested, the existing belly button will be removed, reshaped and sewn back on to get the desired size and proportion. In the case where scar tissue needs to be removed, the skin will be re-sutured after the removal for a better appearance. On the other hand, if repositioning is requested, the usual procedure is to remove a strip of skin from the inside at the abdomen part to allow the belly button to be repositioned.
Possible risks and complications
Some possible complications that may occur after belly button reshaping include:
・Pain – Mild pain may be felt and can be handled by painkillers.
・Bruising and swelling – These will be very light and subside within a few days.
・An irregular or a lopsided appearance – If your belly button appears irregular or lopsided, you may need further corrective surgery. Hence, looking for an experienced doctor is necessary.
・Scars – Excessive scar formation may occur even though the surgeons have undergone a safe cutting procedure; a corrective procedure afterwards can be done.
