What Is PRP for Anti-Aging Treatment?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a natural alternative and non-invasive treatment in anti aging and skin rejuvenation. It is widely known as 'True Blood Therapy' or 'Vampire Facial'. This treatment uses your own blood plasma that goes through a special process to increase the concentration of platelets, which is why it's called Platelet-Rich Plasma. These platelets contain growth factors, which is well-known for its ability to fight the signs of aging and help in healing process. Your own PRP will be injected back into your skin to repair damaged skin cells and increase collagen production within 2 to 3 weeks to naturally fade lines, wrinkles and folds.
How PRP Works
PRP is considered as a more natural alternative to Botox and Fillers as it uses sources from your own body. To start the treatment, the doctor will first have to draw blood from the patient and centrifuge it to increase concentration of platelets. The platelet-rich plasma will then be collected to be injected back into your face. Through this procedure, the skin will be infused with platelets, which are known for its wound healing ability. Platelets are components found in the bloodstream that allow blood to clot. When a clot is formed, platelets emit enzymes that aid in tissue regeneration by drawing stem cells to the area to help repair the skin. It can be used in areas such as the forehead, cheeks, neck and décolleté to treat age spots, dullness as well as wrinkling.
Since PRP is a natural process, the effects may happen gradually. Within 1 week, you can start seeing the results of the recovery process. A more rejuvenated skin that looks younger will take 1 to 2 months to be visible. Results can remain for up to 2 years, depending on individuals.
PRP Procedure
1. Examination will be done by doctor.
2. Your blood will be sampled/taken from your arm, for about 10 to 40 ml.
3. The blood will be centrifuged to increase the concentration of platelets.
4. Using a syringe, a small amount of PRP will be injected into necessary areas on your skin.

FAQ
Q1: Is PRP injection painful?
A1: It is highly subjective and dependent on your pain tolerance. Generally, it is painless and the aesthetic physician may apply some numbing cream on the areas to be treated before the PRP injection.
Q2: When can I see the results?
A2: Since it is a natural process, the body needs time to repair itself. But gradually, the production of collagen will be stimulated in 2 to 3 weeks time to naturally reduce or eliminate lines, folds, and wrinkles. You can see younger looking face after 1 to 2 months. This will give you a fresher and more rejuvenated look than before without putting anything foreign inside your body.
Q3: What should I do after the treatment?
A3: As with most injection process, side effects may include mild redness and swelling that will fade within a week. To quicken the recovery process, do apply ice packs to areas of discomfort. Also, avoid public swimming pool, touching your face or any activities that may cause infections during the recovery process.
Q4: How safe is PRP?
A4: PRP is extremely safe since PRP is your own natural plasma, there is very little risk of any adverse event. Minor bruising, soreness and swelling are expected.
Q5: How is PRP harvested?
A5: The PRP is isolated from a sample of your own blood. The blood is placed in a centrifuge which spins and separates red blood cells from (and concentrates platelets into) the plasma. The plasma, now rich in platelets, is then injected into the necessary areas in your face.
