What is Thermage?
Thermage is a FDA-approved skin tightening treatment that has been clinically proven to tighten, firm and contour the skin while stimulating collagen for a more youthful appearance. It uses radiofrequency therapy to deliver heat into the skin layers to stimulate the renewal process of collagen uniformly and consistently.
In the procedure, the tip of the handpiece is directed on the skin above the area treated. A brief cooling sensation will be felt followed by a warm sensation. The heating of the layers underneath the skin stimulates the production and regeneration of collagen. When more collagen is produced, the skin and its layers are stimulated to become firmer, smoother and tighter.
How It Works
Thermage works by heating up deep collagen fibers in the skin and underlying tissue. This 'heat' will not damage the skin surface as a cooling spray will also be alternated while the treatment is ongoing. The Thermage tip will gently touch the skin to deliver radiofrequency energy deep beneath the skin. The uniform heating will stimulate the skin to produce more collagen and cause the underlying tissues to tighten. Gradually, collagen will be produced to further tighten the skin and improve its contours. It is fast, comfortable and has no downtime.
Thermage Procedure
1. Areas of the face that are desired for tightening/lifting will be identified.
2. Numbing cream will be applied.
3. Radiofrequency energy will be targeted to the collagen-containing layers of the skin and is delivered in controlled amounts. Vibration elements integrated with cooling blasts will be used during the procedure for comfort.
