The keyword is “gentle”. From eating to moving to sleeping, remain gentle.  Avoid hot and spicy foods for a while and opt for oatmeal and yoghurt instead. Stay away from any form of strenuous physical activity that can lead to excessive blood flow to the lips. Don’t sleep with your face in direct contact with your pillow or bed sheet. All this should be observed until the swelling stops.
