The skin right below the brows tends to sag as we age; it loses elasticity along with the soft tissues and hence results in the shortening of the distance between eyebrows and eyelashes; this often causes the eyes to look tired and dull all the time.

Brow lift is a cosmetic procedure performed to improve the symmetry of low and sagging brows. Also known as a forehead lift or forehead rejuvenation, brow lift also helps to improve the appearance of the forehead while focusing on the brow and the area around the eyes by raising soft tissue and skin of the forehead and brow. The treatment helps to eliminate the visible furrows, tighten your forehead skin, and muscles to look refreshed with younger and happier facial expressions.

At our affiliated clinic, there are 2 methods available:

· Endoscopic Brow Lift
Several small incisions will be made in the inner parts of the scalp without causing any bleeding or scars; an endoscope will be inserted with a long thin tube through one of the incisions to view the underlying muscles and tissues. In this method, the sagging tissues will be lifted and anchored with sutures or small screws. The healing period is much shorter with less swelling; stitches will be removed after an average of 10 days.

· Eyebrow Thread Lift
The method works by inserting a tiny dissolvable thread into the face and pulling up the skin; this is not a permanent solution as the thread can only last between 6 to 24 months, depending on your frequent facial expressions.

1. Consultation and examination of face condition
2. Application of either sedation-supported local anesthesia or general anesthesia
3. Small incisions will be made within the hairline
4. An endoscope will be used during the procedure for Endoscopic Brow Lift
5. Dissolvable threads will be inserted for Eyebrow Thread Lift
6. Correction on the source of visible creases and furrows in the forehead
7. Closing of incisions

<Limitations>
· Itching and numbness may be experienced while the incisions heal

· You should be prepared to answer questions regarding current and past medical conditions
· A physical exam will be done by examining and measuring different parts of the face to determine treatment options

· You are required to stop smoking before surgery as well as during the recovery period
· You are likely to avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs as well as herbal supplements
· You are required to make plans for someone to help with driving home and accompany for at least the first night of recovery

· Avoid washing hair for at least 72 hrs
· Rest with the head elevated to avoid further swelling
· Take pain medication as recommended by the doctor
· Apply cold compresses to relieve swelling
· Avoid exposure of incisions to excessive pressure or motion
· Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 2 weeks after surgery
· Avoid smoking until the wounds are completely healed
· Avoid strenuous exercise for 3 to 4 weeks

· Minor scarring may be visible after the surgery
· Temporary changes in skin sensation may occur
· Permanent numbness on the forehead of top of the scalp may be experienced
· A brow lift can cause an elevated hairline or hair loss at the incision site. Scar excision or hair grafting can be done in the case which hair loss does not resolve on its own
