What is Male Chest Reduction?
Male Chest Reduction is performed to treat Gynecomastia; the condition in which a man's chest swells and bulges like a woman's. The condition is mainly caused by some abnormalities present in the hormones but it can be corrected with surgical procedure. On the other hand, some may experience bulges as the presence of excess fat.
How It Works
At our affiliated hospital, there are 2 procedures available to improve and enhance a more toned chest for men:
· Mastectomy
A surgical procedure for the purpose of removing the abnormal or excess chest tissues to achieve a more tightened chest appearance
· VASER Liposelection
A suction technique performed to remove excess fat on the chest for a more contoured look; the procedure will be assisted with ultrasound
Procedure for Male Chest Reduction
1. Consultation and examination of the chest condition
2. Treatment method will be determined according to the condition
3. Application of anesthesia
4. For mastectomy, an incision will be made to remove the excess chest tissue
5. For VASER liposelection, an incision will be made for about 5 mm on the underarm for the suction of excess fat
6. Closing of the incision

FAQ
Q1: Is the surgery painful?
A1: Slight stiffness and sore will be experienced.
Q2: What are the signs of gynecomastia?
A2: Signs vary from a small amount of extra tissue around the nipples to a more prominent chest. Sometimes, the chest tissue can be tender or painful, but this isn’t always the case.
Q3: Are there any non-invasive treatments for gynecomastia?
A3: Losing weight can help overweight men, though it doesn't necessarily cure gynecomastia. But for men that are thin, surgery is the only option for reducing gynecomastia.
Q4: Are the results permanent?
A4: There are some rare cases that chest fats/tissues reoccur after the treatment, so a careful preoperative assessment should be done to discuss the conditions prior to the treatment.
