Got a Question ?

It Is Suitable For

· Those looking for a brain screening in a reputable hospital in Goyang, South Korea.
· Those who had brain aneurysms in the past.
· Those with risks or family history of aneurysms.
· Those who often have sudden or severe headache and other symptoms of burst aneurysm.

What is Brain Screening?

A brain screening is a test to look at your brain condition and look for structural abnormalities, infections, inflammatory conditions or other unusual qualities.

At our affiliated clinic, a brain MRI + MRA and a carotid ultrasonography are used to monitor the condition of your brain.

While it is good to go for a screening, please note that if you don’t have symptoms or risks of getting any brain associated disease, the screening may do more harm than good. Brain screening can lead to unnecessary treatments due to “incidental aneurysms” that may never be a problem and expose you to more risks without any benefit.

Brain MRI + MRA

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique used for detecting various brain conditions such as cysts, tumors, bleeding, swelling, developmental and structural abnormalities, infections, inflammatory conditions, or problems with blood vessels.

Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) uses a magnetic field, radio waves, and a computer to create 3D images of blood vessels present in the brain.

Carotid Ultrasonography

Carotid ultrasonography is a technique done to evaluate structural details of carotid arteries. It is an ultrasound-based diagnostic imaging process used to diagnose carotid artery stenosis (CAS) as well as assessing arteriosclerotic plaque morphology and characteristics.

Advantages and Limitations of Brain Screening

<Advantages>
· Opportunity to create your treatment strategy
· Detects abnormalities before they become serious
· Uses powerful and safe technology

<Limitations>
· Not recommended to those who do not have any risk factors / symptoms

Risks

Only those who are suggested to go for a brain screening by a doctor should go for it since the screening can pose some risks:

· It is not usual to find any aneurysm since it is very rare, which means you may be exposed to risks without any benefit.
· Sometimes, the imaging produced may show unclear images. This may lead to more unnecessary tests which expose you to more risks.
· MRI might find small “incidental aneurysms” that may never be a problem.
· Unneeded follow-up testing(s) or treatment(s) can add a lot to your costs.
· Exposure to radiation.
