What is Breast Revision?
Breast Revision is a corrective surgery procedure to improve deformities from a previous surgery/surgeries.
Also known as Correction Mammoplasty, it involves removal and/or replacement of breast implants to correct any deformities or complications from the previous breast augmentation. Although breast implant surgeries have a high satisfaction rate, issues can arise after years of having the implant, which can involve aging signs such as sagging breasts or excessively wide cleavage.
Breast Revision can also be done for those who feel that their breasts have gone through unsightly changes over the years after performing the first Breast Reduction surgery. These changes can be caused by weight gain, aging or even poor results from the previous surgery.
Meanwhile, a Revision Breast Lift typically involves re-lifting or re-tightening of the breasts. Usually the breasts would often sag again due to aging and other factors, and although the sagginess may not be as serious as pre-breast lift, some patients may benefit from a revision surgery to feel more comfortable with their bodies.
Breast Surgery Issues
There are issues following a mammoplasty that require patients to seek a secondary, or even third or fourth surgery. Some of them include:
· Breast Implant-Associated Lymphoma (cancer of the immune system)
· Capsular contracture
· Excessively wide cleavage, or little to no cleavage (Symmastia)
· Implant upsize or downsize
· Implant type change e.g saline to cohesive silicone gel
· Implant rippling
· Scar revision
· Breast lift
· Body changes such as weight gain, weight loss, pregnancy and others
· Other issues that necessitate a Correction Mammoplasty
