What is Hair Transplant?

Hair Transplant is a procedure done to restore hair by moving the hair from the back or side of the head to the front or top of the head. This treatment is usually done under local anesthesia.

Pattern baldness can be caused by various factors such as genetics, hormonal imbalance, stress, diet and medications, among others. Fortunately, thinning hair can be resolved using hair transplant procedures such as follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE).

Please note that the prices for this treatment is PER HAIR GRAFT price.

How It Works

In follicular unit transplantation (FUT) treatment, the surgeon removes a strip of donor skin to be extracted and transferred to the area of concern.

In follicular unit extraction (FUE), individual follicular units are excised directly from the scalp. Can be carried out manually or using a motorized surgical tool.

FUT Procedure

1. After your scalp is anesthetized, a strip of tissue will be removed from the donor area. Once extracted, this donor strip will be slivered into several independent follicular units using microscopic dissection techniques.
2. As these follicular unit grafts are being prepared, small incisions will be made in the scalp, which are called recipient sites, where the grafts will be placed.
3. The arrangement and positioning of these follicular unit grafts dictate the aesthetic qualities of a hair transplant. Therefore, this arrangement differs with each patient, according to the patient’s history of hair loss and probability of future hair loss.

FUE Procedure

1. The donor area of your scalp will be marked and anesthetized. Individual follicular units will be extracted / isolated using a custom-built micro-removal instrument with utmost-care. Surrounding tissue will be unaffected. The donor area will heal within a week.
2.The recipient area will be anesthetized. Then, small puncture sites will be created to receive the grafts. These puncture sites will be positioned in a predetermined pattern and density, and angled in a uniformed way so that your hair pattern will appear realistic.
3. The donor hair grafts will be inserted.

Treatment Preparation

· Stop smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, taking hormonal pills, herbal supplements, and medicines (other than those that your doctor allows you to continue), for at least two weeks before your appointment.
· Those with any serious conditions need surgical clearance from their medical specialist.

FAQ

Q1: Should I choose FUT or FUE?
A1: In general, FUT yields the most donor hair. Therefore, the procedure is best suited for more extensive hair loss and in patients where the main concern is the maximum use of one’s donor supply. A limitation of FUT is that it leaves a line scar in the donor area. With normal styling, this is easily covered with hair, but it precludes someone from cutting their hair very short. FUE is more appropriate for patients who would like to keep their hair very short or who cannot limit strenuous activities in the post-op period. In general, younger patients who need to keep their styling options flexible choose FUE, whereas those who desire the most coverage opt for FUT.

Q2: What is the meaning of a "donor" or "donor area"?
A2: The donor area is the section of the scalp (normally the back and sides) where hair-bearing skin is removed during a surgical hair restoration procedure. For a hair transplant to be successful, hair in this area must be permanent (not subject to the effects of DHT).

Q3: What are "recipient sites"?
A3: Recipient sites are the needle slits or holes that the hair transplant surgeon creates in the patient’s scalp, on which the follicular unit grafts are inserted/placed during a hair transplant procedure. Hair transplants at our affiliated clinic are created utilizing lateral slits (also called coronal or horizontal slits).

Q4: Will I be asleep during the procedure?
A4: Local anaesthesia with sedation will used, therefore, you will be awake and relaxed.

Q5: Will the results be permanent?
A5: Permanence isn't guaranteed as it involves effects of aging and genetic tendencies.
