What is Open Rhinoplasty?
Open Rhinoplasty is one of the nose augmentation methods performed to reshape the nose. The treatment improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, thus enhancing facial harmony and more self-confidence. The procedure involves making incisions in the middle nose tissues to open up the skin. This is able to correct the nose size in relation to facial balance, the nasal tip that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked, and asymmetric noses, etc.
Open Vs Close Rhinoplasty
The main difference between open and close rhinoplasty is that open rhinoplasty is performed by making an incision on the soft tissue between the nostrils to lift back the skin for surgery, whereas close rhinoplasty involves no incision on the outside of the nostrils, leaving no scars.
Closed rhinoplasty is considered less invasive and takes a shorter time to complete. However, there is limited space for the surgeons to work on compared to the open rhinoplasty, and hence the free to reshape and stabilization of the nose is easier and more accessible with the open rhinoplasty method.

Q1: What precautions should I take before my nose augmentation?
A1: Refrain from smoking 4 weeks before your nose augmentation. Moreover, avoid taking any medication with blood-thinning properties.
Q2: What else must I do after my nose augmentation?
A2: Sleep in an upright position or in any way that results in your head having a higher position than your chest. This is to minimize swelling. Do not forget to take any prescribed pain medication. To reduce the risk of infection, remember to take prescribed antibiotics.
Q3: I have a heart condition, will it be okay for me to undergo this treatment?
A3: If you have any disorders or heart conditions, please obtain medical documents from your general practitioner.
Q4: Is it true that this treatment is only for thick-skinned people?
A4: It would be excellent if you have thick skin as the skin will provide coverage of the implant. Nonetheless, otherwise, you may still go for the surgery.
Q5: Will I need to have any post-procedure touch-ups?
A5: Because nose augmentation is a complicated procedure and the nose swells during the operation, there is a chance you may need to have some post-surgery touch-ups. About 15% of nose augmentation operations require touch-up procedures.
