What is Arm Lift?
Arm lift, also known as Brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that aims to smoothen the skin by trimming down excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow.
If you have dangling, drooping or sagging skin on your upper arm (which is an inescapable outcome of aging), an arm lift can give you smoother, toner, and well-defined balanced skin. Although exercise can shape your arms, exercise cannot help shape inelastic skin, weakened tissues, and localized fat deposits.
How It Works
Arm lift works by removal of excess skin and fat from the underarms, the area between armpit and elbow. The skin will then be draped back over the newly repositioned contours to give the tight and firm effect.
At our affiliated hospital, the procedure helps to improve the overall underarm appearance that is due by aging, heredity, or weight loss. In some cases, liposuction may be performed to remove the excess fat and give better results.
The procedure is safe and will be performed under general anesthesia.
Other than the usual arm lift, our affiliated hospital offers an extended arm lift procedure that treats the area from underarm up to below the elbow. A revision session is also available for the ones who previously had an arm lift and wish to make some corrections.
Arm Lift Procedure
1. Consultation and areas for incision-making will be marked
2. General anesthesia will be performed
3. Incisions will be made between axial or armpit and elbow
4. Liposuction would be performed if necessary
5. The tissue in your upper arm will be removed and tightened
6. Incisions will be closed with stitches

Arm Lift Recovery
During the recovery period, a small thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid at the incision site. Bandages or dressings may be applied to the incision wounds and the arms may be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swelling after the surgery.
Specific instructions will be given on how to care for the surgical site and drains, as well as medications to apply or take orally to aid healing.
FAQ
Q1: Why do I have to avoid alcohol consumption after the treatment?
A1: Alcohol could interact with pain medication to cause complications such as fluid retention.
Q2: How would smoking affect the recovery process?
A2: Nicotine contained in smoke can slow down healing when it reacts with blood in the body.
Q3: Does the treatment hurt?
A3: No, general anesthesia will be used for sedation.
Q4: Are the results permanent?
A4: Significant fluctuations in weight will negate the results of the surgery.
Q5: Will I have scars after my arm lift?
A5: A linear scar will be noticed but this fades away over time in most people and will only be noticeable on a closer look. People who experienced having keloids in the past must weigh the benefits of arm lift surgery over the chances of forming large scars.
Q6: How long do I have to wait before I can resume my normal activities?
A6: Normal activities are recommended to resume 3 weeks after surgery.
Q7: How long will it take for the scar to heal?
A7: The scar may take up to 3 months to heal.
Q8: How long until I should expect the final results?
