What is Brachytherapy?
Brachytherapy, sometimes known as internal radiation therapy is a type of radiation therapy for used to treat cancer. Direct insertion of radioactive material inside the tumor in a higher total dose requires a shorter treatment time as compared to External Beam Radiation Therapy (the traditional way of treating cancer by beaming from outside the body).
Brachytherapy can be permanent or temporary, in which temporary brachytherapy is performed within a specific time frame and removed. Permanent brachytherapy however, mimics seed implantation, in which radioactive seeds about a rice grain size is placed in or near the tumor. The seed will lose its radioactivity in a few months' time.

Q2: If I have permanent brachytherapy, does that mean I am affecting surrounding people as well?
A2: There is a little concern that you may spread off a degree of radiation to your surrounding. However, it is also said that the radiation levels are very minute and will decrease over time.
