What is Close Nose Augmentation?
Rhinoplasty or nose augmentation sometimes referred to as “nose reshaping” or a “nose job,” is a treatment that improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, thus enhancing facial harmony and more self-confidence. Nose surgery is able to correct the nose size in relation to facial balance, the nasal tip that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked, and asymmetric noses.
At our affiliated hospital, there are 2 methods of achieving your ideal nose: open and close.
Close nose augmentation is when the surgery is performed without making incisions to open up the skin.
Open Vs Close Nose Augmentation
The main difference between open and close nose augmentation is that open nose augmentation is performed by making an incision on the soft tissue between the nostrils to lift back the skin for surgery, whereas close nose augmentation involves no incision on the outside of the nostrils, leaving no scars.
Close nose augmentation is considered less invasive and takes a shorter time to complete. However, there is limited space for the surgeons to work on compared to the open nose augmentation, and hence the free to reshape and stabilization of the nose is easier and more accessible with the open nose augmentation method.
Treatments Available
· Nose augmentation
The procedure can be performed to help achieve a taller and shapelier nose by inserting a silicone implant for the augmentation
· Revision nose augmentation
The reparation and improvement of the results from the initial nose surgery performed
· Rhinoplasty with costal cartilage
The cartilage that can be harvested from the ribs is known as costal cartilage. Harvesting from the tip of a rib happens when there is not enough of the septal or ear cartilage. Since cartilage from this part of the body provides strong support, it is used in case of severe contracture deformation or severe nose immersion
· Rhinoplasty with ear cartilage
The cartilage in the ear is commonly used as it is easy to harvest, great in elasticity, smooth, and does not leave any visible hollowness. It functions in the nostrils to slightly raise the nose tip or to reshape the existing cartilage.
Close Nose Augmentation Procedure
1. Consultation and examination will be performed
2. Marking of the treatment area to be operated on
3. Application of local or general anesthesia
4. In a close nose augmentation, incisions will be placed within the nostrils
5. Placement of silicone implant or cartilage onto the desired area
6. Closing of the incisions

FAQ
Q1: What precautions should I take before my nose augmentation?
A1: Refrain from smoking 4 weeks before your nose augmentation. Moreover, avoid taking any medication with blood-thinning properties.
Q2: What else must I do after my nose augmentation?
A2: Sleep in an upright position or in any way that results in your head having a higher position than your chest. This is to minimize swelling. Do not forget to take any prescribed pain medication. To reduce the risk of infection, remember to take prescribed antibiotics.
Q3: I have a heart condition, will it be okay for me to undergo this treatment?
A3: If you have any disorders or hear conditions, please obtain medical documents from your general practitioner.
Q4: Is it true that this treatment is only for thick-skinned people?
A4: It would be excellent if you have thick skin as the skin will provide coverage of the implant. Nonetheless, otherwise, you may still go for the surgery.
Q5: Will I need to have any post-procedure touch-ups?
A5: Because nose augmentation is a complicated procedure and the nose swells during the operation, there is a chance you may need to have some post-surgery touch-ups. About 15% of nose augmentation operations require touch-up procedures.
