What is Dental X-Ray?
Dental X-Ray produces radiographs of your dental structures for the dentists to use as a reference to evaluate your oral health.
This is suitable for the ones who have an ongoing dental treatment such as dentures, braces, extractions, and implants; the clear x-ray images must be present for dentists to plan and proceed with the treatments.
Moreover, this procedure is also recommended to be done for the general oral health checkup.
How It Works
There are 2 types of X-Ray available at our affiliated clinic:
· Panoramic X-Ray
Also known as panoramic radiography, it is a two-dimensional (2D) dental X-ray examination that captures the entire mouth in a single image, including the teeth, upper and lower jaws, surrounding structures, and tissues; used for planning dental treatments like dentures, braces, extractions, implants, etc.
· X-Ray
A common tool with low levels of radiation for capturing images of the interior of your teeth and gums; used to find hidden dental structures, cavities, bone loss, etc.

1. You will be positioned upright in a chair
2. A lead apron will be placed over your chest a thyroid collar will be wrapped around your neck

FAQ
Q1: Are dental X-rays safe for kids?
A1: Yes, children are generally more susceptible to getting cavities, dental X-rays may often be recommended at every 6 months appointment. Some children may scan less frequently (every 2 or 3 years) if their teeth and gums are healthy.
Q2: Is it safe for pregnant women?
A2: Yes, dental X-ray is safe during pregnancy.
Q3: Why is dental X-ray important?
A3: Dental X-ray is important as radiographs help the dentist to see between your teeth, below your gum line, and your tooth roots; without it, there will only be a limited view of your oral health and the dentist may not be able to give proper guidance on dental treatments.
Q4: How often should I get a dental X-ray to check for my oral health?
A4: An adult with no obvious clinical decay and no increased risk can receive a dental X-ray every 2 to 3 years; whereas the ones with an increased risk of tooth decay, obvious clinical decay, generalized dental disease, or a history of extensive dental treatment should have X-ray taken every 6 to 18 months.
