What is Dermal Filler Injection?

Dermal fillers are a naturally-derived or synthetic material that is directly injected into skin with the purpose of plumping that area to the point where the wrinkle, depression, or fold is reduced or gone. Dermal fillers can also be used to plump up lips, elongate your chin and give you a higher nose bridge. Depending on the type of filler, the effects can last anywhere from six months to two years. Here in The Life Clinic, we only use dermal filler that are not permanent and completely absorbable.

Redensity II

Redensity II is a non-cross linked hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is used to focus on treating under eyes to improve the appearance of dark circles and the hollowness that is caused naturally by the dark circles.
Once the hollowness is filled, the appearance of the dark circles can be immediately improved. Other than that, Redensity II can be used to smooth fine lines and wrinkles in the under eye area as well.

The effect can last on average between 6 to 18 months; in some cases, the results maintained up to 2 years.

Radiesse

Radiesse is an injectable product containing calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres which is a necessary component for forming teeth and bones. It is slightly harder than hyaluronic acid, and has the property to form soft bone-like tissue, so it is possible to raise the nose, chin, and improve jawline shape.

Radiesse is commonly used for smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds. Also, this type of filler can be used for correcting volume loss at the back of the hands.

In a clinical study, it is found that the filler can last up to 6 months before the effects start to fade. Some patients can have the results last for a year. Radiesse is safe and cleared by the FDA.

How It Works

Naturally-derived fillers (the most widely known is hyaluronic acid) have a much smaller risk of causing an allergic reaction but reactions can occur. Results are immediate and will last from 6 to 18 months (occasionally up to two years) because the filler eventually breaks down. Once the filler starts to dissipate, you need to go back in and get more filler injected to maintain results. Most people who get fillers will need at least one follow-up injection within a year.
The procedure only takes 30-60minutes, depending on the area to be treated. You may develop some swelling and bruise after the procedure which will settle in a few days. However, you will be able to return to work immediately afterward.
