Varicose veins are the visible, large, raised, swollen blood vessels that are unsightly and often painful. Usually developed in the legs, they are also twisted and turning. This condition affects more women than men and can be a side effect of pregnancy. Veins have one-way valves to ensure blood returns from the legs to the heart against gravity. But when the valves leak, blood will pool in the veins, causing them to become enlarged (varicose).

One of the methods to treat varicose veins is by using radiofrequency ablation (RFA). This works by the heat created from the radiofrequency.
