Botox is a trademark by Allergan, also known as Botulinum toxin injections that are used to help relax facial muscles and make lines and wrinkles less obvious. It limits movement of facial muscles, preventing wrinkles from forming. Whilst Botulinum Toxin can be very effective in reducing wrinkles due to muscle contractions, it has no effect in reducing the fine lines on the face caused by sun damage, and lines due to sagging of facial skin. For patients with very heavy lines, repeated treatments may be needed for maximum effect. There are no severe complications after cosmetic use of Botulinum Toxin reported in the literature.
