The aim for this program is not to completely cure the pain, but to provide treatments that could help to manage and relieve the pain.

There are various treatments available for Ayurvedic treatment. For this program, the treatments included are:

· Fomentation (Herbal Ball)
A fomentation is a topical application procedure in which herbs are wrapped up into a ball by thin cloth and applied to the body. It is similar to compression, however, most compresses are applied and left to cool, while fomentations are usually kept warm. Fomentation is helpful in treating strains, sprains, cramps, and almost any inflamed area of the body. Coughs and congestion can also benefit from this type of treatment.

· Herbal Paste
Herbal paste is made by mixing of herbs with powder and natural oil. This can be applied onto body for certain pain relieve depending on the herbs used.

· Vasti
This is a treatment in which body toxins will be expelled by introducing medicated liquids or oils through anus, urethra or vaginal canal. The common medicinal substances used for Vasti are sesame oil, calamus oil, or other herbal decoctions in a liquid medium. Vasti is good especially for rheumatic (vata) diseases.

· Pichu
An ayurvedic spine therapy treatment. Pichu is the process where cotton wool soaked with warm medicated oil will be applied onto the areas that need to be treated. This treatment helps to reduce burning sensation in scalp, prevents hair fall, relieves headache, induces sleep, improves memory, etc.

· Tension Relieving Treatment - 70 mins
· Fomentation (Herbal Ball) - 20 mins
· Herbal Paste - 10 mins
· Vasti - 20 mins
· Pichu - 30 mins

These treatments continue for 5 days

<Fomentation (Herbal ball)>
1. Herbs are wrapped up into a ball with thin cloth.
2. Lay flat with face down.
3. Herbal ball will be used to apply onto the body.
4. The duration is 20 minutes per treatment.

<Herbal Paste>
1. Lay flat with face down.
2. Herbal paste will be applied onto the body.
3. The duration is 10 minutes per treatment.

<Vasti>
1. Medicated liquid or oil will be introduced into the body through anus/urethra/vaginal canal.
2. Body toxins will be expelled.
3. The duration is 20 minutes per treatment.

<Pichu>
1. Long, thick layer of cotton wool will be soaked with warm medicated oil.
2. The cotton wool will be applied over the treatment area.
3. The oil will be replaced periodically to keep warm.
4. The duration is 30 minutes per treatment.

A2: Vasti alleviates constipation, distention, chronic fever, the common cold, sexual disorders, kidney stones, heart pain, vomiting, backache, neck pain and hyper acidity. Vata disorders as sciatica, arthritis, rheumatism, and gout can also be treated by Vasti treatment.

Q3: Can the treatment cause any harm?
A3: This treatment is not for those with diarrhea, bleeding disorders, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, jaundice, broken skin disorders, fever, severe cardiac diseases and pregnant women. People who do not have the contraindications listed can get the therapy without issues.

Q4: Can Pichu help in joint pains?
A4: Yes, Pichu can eliminate joint pains and is also effective in cases ofregenerative and normal injuries, spondylitis and osteon-arthritis.

Q5: What can Fomentation help in?
A5: Fomentation actually opens up the small blood vessels in the affected area and allows easier blood circulation, reducing the inflammation and redness in the affected area. Thus, it relieves pain such as knee pain, back pain, and many bone related problems.
