What is Chemical Peel?

The name says it all. Chemical peel treatment is a facial treatment that uses chemical solution to peel your skin top layers. This is also known as a skin-resurfacing procedure which allows the skin to regrow smoother and brighter.

Chemical peels can be used to treat numerous issues like wrinkles, acne scars or any spots and discolorations on your face. Our affiliated clinic specifically uses Glycolic Acid as well as Salicylic Acid Macrogol as agents of chemical peeling.

How It Works

The treatment involves applying chemical solution to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

A chemical peel can help improve acne or acne scars, age and liver spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles, irregular skin pigmentation, rough skin and scaly patches and sun-damaged skin. However, sagging skin, bulges, and more severe wrinkles do not respond well to chemical peels.

Chemical Peel Procedure

Typically, chemical peel procedure involves:

1. Face will be cleansed.
2. Degreasing solution will be applied before applying any peeling solution e.g AHA to prevent uneven coating due to sebum.
3. The peeling solution will then be applied to the entire face and it takes 3 to 5 minutes for the peeling. Patient might feel a mild stinging while the solution is on the skin.
4. Neutralizing solution will be applied.
5. Face will be cooled with a cool gauze for 15 minutes.
6. End of treatment.

Typical Chemical Peeling

· Glycolic Acid Peel
Often, glycolic acid peel uses a super-charged substances like alpha-hydroxy acid and glycolid acid itself to result in effective chemical exfoliation. It has the capability of removing your dead skin cells and reveal a brighter and fresher skin. It is often used to treat discoloration, aging signs and scarring.

· Lactic Acid Peel
Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that in a simpler form known as sour milk. This is an alternative choice of peels that gives gentler experience for the skin. The main function of it is to balance the skin's pH level and produce smooth and glowing skin. Also, light exfoliation can be felt as it dissolves dead skin cells to improve skin texture. Lactic acid if compared to Glycolic acid is said to have a milder effect as it contains a higher molecular weight.

Salicylic Acid Macrogol Peel

Unlike other acid peeling that chemically peel off the outermost layer of your skin, Salicylic Acid Macrogol only affect your epidermis and pores. Salicylic acid is dissolved in Macrogol to ensure that the penetration of acid will not reach deep into your skin layers.

This method is said to give a whitening effect as salicylic acid contain BHA and has the ability to stimulate a rise in production of collagen and elastin.
