Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease which is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

But according to experts, these tests have a limited role in diagnosis as it takes the body four days or longer after infection to produce antibodies, which means it's too long for quick detection and contact tracing. That is why the results need to be interpreted together with clinical examination and confirmed with supplemental testing.
