What is Mixed Peel?
Mixed Peel is a chemical peeling exclusively for medical institutions that is gentle on the delicate skin. It is a gel-type peeling agent that is based on lactic acid and contains glycolic acid and salicylic acid, and penetrates gently into the skin. It is characterized by its high combined effect that cannot be achieved with a single peeling agent and its short downtime after treatment.
It helps to peel off old dead skin cells, normalizes skin turnover, and thoroughly removes sebum and other impurities that have clogged pores.
How It Works
The treatment involves applying chemical solution to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.
Mixed peel can help improve acne or acne scars, age and liver spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles, irregular skin pigmentation, rough skin and scaly patches and sun-damaged skin. However, sagging skin, bulges, and more severe wrinkles do not respond well to chemical peels.
Mixed Peel Procedure
Typically, the procedure will be done:
1. Face will be cleansed and properly washed
2. Mixed peel will be applied
3. The peeling solution will be wiped off
4. Face will be cooled off
*It is recommended to include with iontophoresis or caresis to minimise the discomfort
*It will be even more effective if you undergo laser treatment 1 to 2 weeks later.
Mixed Peel Components
· Lactic Acid
It acts on the superficial layers of the skin, promoting the production of ceramide, which is important for moisturizing, and improving moisturizing. It is made by fermenting yogurt or whey and extracting a portion of it. It is also used to adjust the pH value (a value that indicates the acidity or alkalinity of the skin). In addition, it is expected to have the effect of promoting skin depigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase, and the effect of improving the cell binding power of the stratum corneum and smoothing out unevenness of the skin.
· Glycolic Acid
Often, glycolic acid peel uses a super-charged substances like alpha-hydroxy acid and glycolid acid itself to result in effective chemical exfoliation. It has the capability of removing your dead skin cells and reveal a brighter and fresher skin. It is often used to treat discoloration, aging signs and scarring.
· Salicylic Acid
It acts on the stratum corneum, softening and melting the stratum corneum to remove unnecessary skin tissue. In addition, it is expected to have bacteriostatic, bactericidal, photoprotective, and anti-itching effects. Salicylic acid exfoliation is also used to allow lactic acid, which acts on the superficial layers of the skin, to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.
