What is Periodontal Flap Surgery?
Periodontal Flap Surgery, also known as gum flap surgery, is a procedure done to separate gums temporarily from the teeth and fold back after the treatment below the gum line is completed. The treatment is specially designed for the ones with gum disease (periodontitis).
How It Works
Periodontitis is a severe gum infection that can cause tooth loss and several serious health complications. The disease damages the soft tissues and if it is left for a long time without treatment done, this can destroy the bone that supports your teeth.
Periodontal Flap Surgery works as the gum will be cut open like a flap to reveal the root of the tooth and the bone below the gum line to treat gum disease that has occurred from the inside.
