What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery sometimes referred to as “nose reshaping” or a “nose job,” is a treatment that improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, thus enhancing facial harmony and more self-confidence. Nose surgery is able to correct the nose size in relation to facial balance, the nasal tip that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked, and asymmetric noses.

How It Works

At our affiliated clinic, rhinoplasty can be performed in a number of methods, depending on your nose condition:

· Rhinoplasty with a silicone implant
· Rhinoplasty with ear cartilage
· Humped nose
· Deformed Nose

Open Vs Close Rhinoplasty

The main difference between open and closed rhinoplasty is that open rhinoplasty is performed by making an incision on the soft tissue between the nostrils to lift back the skin for surgery, whereas closed rhinoplasty involves no incision on the outside of the nostrils, leaving no scars.

Closed rhinoplasty is considered less invasive and takes a shorter time to complete. However, there is limited space for the surgeons to work on compared to the open rhinoplasty, and hence the free to reshape and stabilization of the nose is easier and more accessible with the open rhinoplasty method.

Rhinoplasty With Silicone Implant

The procedure can be performed either by open or close rhinoplasty to help achieve taller and shapelier nose by inserting a silicone implant for the augmentation.

Rhinoplasty with Ear Cartilage Implant

Autoplasty is a procedure where natural cartilages are harvested. The areas where cartilages can be harvested are either from inside of the nostrils, ear, or the ribs. The cartilages obtained are known as autogenous cartilage.

The cartilage in the ear is commonly used as it is easy to harvest, great in elasticity, smooth, and does not leave any visible hollowness. It functions in the nostrils to slightly raise the nose tip or to reshape the existing cartilage.

Humped Nose

The procedure is to reduce the appearance of dorsal humps that cause bone irregularities on the nose. This helps to enhance a straight slope from the bridge of the nose to the tip by removing the protruding cartilage.

Deformed Nose

Also known as nasal deformity, it is an abnormality in the nose structure and appearance. The procedure is to correct the deformities of the nose that often results in difficulty breathing, as well as impaired sense of smell.

Rhinoplasty Procedure

1. Consultation and examination will be performed
2. Marking of the treatment area to be operated on
3. Application of local or general anesthesia
4. In an open surgery, incisions will be made on the columella
5. In a closed surgery, incisions will be placed within the nostrils
