Chin Augmentation is a surgery that is performed on the lower jawline and chin area to help improve facial proportions. An enhanced facial proportion can contribute greatly to help with self-confidence. The common procedure performed for augmentation is Chin Implants; this corrects and gives a permanent solution to recessed chin, a condition in which chin is shaped slightly too inwards to the neck and no obvious proportion of chin seen.

An obvious chin shape could make up better facial appearance; for instance, a defined face shape allows young and slimmer look. The overall procedure takes around 3 hours to complete with no general anesthesia needed.

Chin augmentation works by insertion of an artificial replacement for body part called Protese to enhance the recessed chin or improve the appearance of the chin as desired.

· Do not take any blood-thinning medication before the treatment.
· Fasting is required for at least 6 hours prior to the treatment.

Chin augmentation is not recommended for patients with severe microgenia, labial incompetence, lip protrusion, shortened mandibular height, severe malocclusion, and periodontal disease.

1. A small incision will be made (either under the chin or inside the mouth).
2. A pocket will be created in the area between the chin bone and muscles.
3. An implant will be placed inside this pocket. The type of implant used by our affiliated clinic is called Protese.
4. The incision will be closed using sutures.

A2: The results of this procedure is permanent, which means no future visit is required. Despite its permanence, it can also be removed if such is desired.

A3: Nearly all chin augmentations are done with a chin implant. But there is also an alternative procedure done in which the jawbone is cut and moved to create an increase in vertical height or length of the lower jaw.
