What is PDO Thread Lift?
PDO (Poly-Di-Oxanon) threads are soluble sutures that are used in non-surgical face lifting procedures. The threads are made in South Korea. When inserted into the skin, the threads produce a tightening and facial slimming effect, which makes the skin firm by stimulating skin cells to produce collagen. The absorbable threads will then ‘disappear’ through the hydrolysis process in about 6 months after the procedure, but the lifting effects will remain for up to 6 months more, as collagen will help to retain skin youthfulness.
How It Works
During the procedure, local anesthesia will be administered before inserting the threads. The PDO threads will be preloaded into a sharp or blunt tip needle (also known as cannula) and the cannula will then be inserted into different layers of the skin. After that, the threads will be released into the skin from the cannula, and the excess threads will be cut off.
The thread left underneath the skin will stimulate collagen production as a natural way for the body to heal. Gradually, the thread will be dissolved by the body and collagen will continue to be produced in the process. The number of threads you need will depend on the condition of your skin. During consultation, it’s important to discuss your expectations so that the doctor can predetermine the number of threads needed to achieve your appearance goals.
Face Thread Lift Procedure
1. Examination will be done by doctor and markings will be done for insertion of threads.
2. Local anesthesia will be administered.
3. PDO threads will be preloaded in a long cannula. The cannula will be pushed through the tissue underneath the skin.
4. Once the thread has reached its predetermined end point, the thread will be released from the cannula.
5. The process will be repeated until the desired lifting effect is achieved. Normally, the minimum number of threads inserted is 6, and those who need more may require up to 12 to 18 threads.
6. Excess thread will be cut off. Gradually, the thread will dissolve inside the body and collagen will be stimulated in the process.
Nose Thread Lift Procedure
1. Examination will be done by doctor and markings will be done for insertion of threads.
2. Local anesthesia will be administered.
3. PDO threads will be preloaded in a long cannula. The cannula will be pushed through beneath the skin to place the threads along the nasal bridge.
4. Once the thread has reached its predetermined end point, the thread will be released from the cannula.
5. The process will be repeated until the desired lifting effect is achieved. Normally, the minimum number of threads for nose is 3 to 4 threads.
6. Excess thread will be cut off. Gradually, the thread will dissolve inside the body and collagen will be stimulated in the process. The nose will be slimmer with improved contour.
Under Eye Thread Lift Procedure
1. Examination will be done by doctor and markings at the under eye area will be done for insertion of threads.
2. Local anesthesia will be administered.
3. PDO threads will be preloaded in a long cannula. The cannula will be pushed through the under eye area.
4. Once the thread has reached its predetermined end point, the thread will be released from the cannula.
5. The process will be repeated until the desired lifting effect is achieved. Usually, 4 threads will be inserted at the under eye area, but this depends on the condition of your eyebags as well as volume loss.
6. Excess thread will be cut off. Gradually, the thread will dissolve inside the body and collagen will be stimulated in the process.
