Elbow arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure involving the implementation of a camera as well as surgical instruments to the elbow joint. Surgical instruments are implanted via small skin cutting that measures approximately 0.5 cm (portals). The number of portals and their placement depend on the procedure performed. The joint is filled with physiological salt and a camera generated image is transferred to a high-resolution monitor. An operator conducts this procedure while looking at the onscreen image.

Q2: How long after the surgery will I be able to lift weights?
A2: It is recommended that you start doing light exercises to improve your elbow strength, about 3 weeks after the surgery. Most people wait for about 6 to 8 weeks to return to work.

Q3: My colleague’s hand was swelling after going through elbow surgery. Will this also happen to me?
A3: This is normal and usually happens because elevation of your hand becomes difficult after the surgery. In this case, getting a squeeze ball and making a fist repetitively can help to pump the swelling away from your hand. Elevate your hand above the level of your heart, especially 3-5 days after surgery.
