Otoplasty is also known as cosmetic ear surgery and denotes procedures typically done to correct deformities or defects of the pinna.
Otoplasty Procedure
1. Cartilaginous skeleton of the outer ear is excavated and set into the desired position and size.
2. After the bleeding stops, the cartilage membrane and the incision is closed with neat plastic stitches.
3. A pressure bandage is applied to the ear to prevent swelling and bruising.
